Flippa Vs DigitalPoint
It would be in your best interest to subscribe to my RSS feed. Your location is being tracked as you read this and there may be consequences for not reading the internet gospel, according to Adam.
Welcome to my first contest, where I pit two web services against each other to decide which one is better. The first contest will decide once and for all:
“Where is the best place to sell a website”
The Contestants
Digital Point Forums: Free to list with a huge number of followers. Bad reputation for scams and a tendency for your listing to fall onto the back pages quickly are some of ther issues.
Flippa (formally sitepoint): Commonly assumed as the best place to sell your site on the internet. Recent changes to design, domain and fees have created a massive backlash.
The Predicition
I am fairly certain flippa will triumph despite the extra fees. Have had good experiences selling sites at both places but find Digitalpoint to be more hit and miss.
The Contest
Ok for this contest I am selling my clickbank affiliate site Build your own solar panel. It makes about $44/mth from affiliate sales and adsense and gets very targetted search engine traffic. I will list the site at the same time with the same description on both sites and let the auction run for 4 days. Site that sells the website for the highest amount wins.

RESULT
Had to call the contest early. As you may have noticed my flippa listing has been suspended by an administrator on the basis of a duplicate listing. I was aware it was not allowed but suprised by how quickly they caught me.
Becasue of the suspension I had to make a choice, either close my thread at DP or cancel the sale with flippa.
So the winner is… Flippa. Based on the bids I had to go with flippa and close my DP threads. I believe that DP is much cheaper and easier to list a website but the fact remains that flippa has a lot more potential buyers and a lot more actual activity and as such generally sites will sell at a higher price.
Because of the early stoppage in this contest I have decided to hold a rematch between Flippa and Digitalpoint the new contest can be viewed at http://www.scribblescratch.com/contest/flippa-vs-digitalpoint-2/.
